[Daiso Japan Beauty Product Review] Hyaluronate Facial Mask Pack (1-week model program)

Hi there! So I was at Daiso Japan the other day and I found this interesting product.

It is the one-week model program Hyaluronate Mask Pack.

Apparently, it contains 7 pieces of facial masks and claimed to make your skin transparent and clear (as it contains Hyaluronate). The other feature of this mask pack is that it is an intensive care face pack and can be used daily for one whole week.

On the onset, $2 for 7 pieces of facial mask?! It sure seems super value for money!

The product is made in Korea and as Korea is well known for its beauty products (and that this only costs SGD2, I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

Moreover, I have heard about sodium hyaluronate's ability to penetrate skin and holds water to help keep the skin hydrated. More reason to give it a shot.

Here's how the packaging looks like.
(the mask on the photo looks so perfect ain't it? - but read on)

One more thing I wish to share when buying beauty products at Daiso is - remember to always check the manufacturing date of the product!

The manufacturing date can be found on this sticker (below) which will be adhered to all the products.

The reason why I mention this is that I saw that there a couple of same products but with different manufacturing dates placed on the shelves. Make sure to always grab the one that has the most recent manufacturing date.

Instructions

And of course, we should not rely on the photos when purchasing a product.

Here's how the actual mask looked like.

Discrepancy of actual product compared with the photo on packaging:
(1) No eye flap
(2) It's a normal cotton mask instead of a jelly like mask

First impressions:
All 7 pieces of cotton facial masks are folded in quarters, stacked and soaked together in one pool of serum. I feel that this can be a little unhygienic as the other masks may be contaminated when the previous piece is being taken out. But for $2, I couldn't expect more from the packaging. So instead, I'd make sure that my hands are clean before I take one of the mask out from the packaging. You can also use a clean pair of tweezers to pull out the mask.

Another thing is that, when you remove one of mask, the piece below it may be pulled out as well (like pulling out tissue from a tissue box). This may cause creases to the mask.

Good thing that the packaging is resealable. This will prevent the masks from drying out.

This is how the mask looks like on my small face.

The serum is of a lighter (more watery) consistency compared to the usual facial masks I've used. I kinda like the way it is as it feels less rich on my skin (as my skin gets breakouts if the products are too rich)

However, this may be the reason why the mask can be used daily. I feel that instead of an "intensive program", this can be more for people with skin like mine (i.e spreading out the "richness" over a few days instead of applying a richer serum that cause breakouts).

I wanted to follow the 7-day routine but was too tired on one of the days that I skipped applying the mask. Hence, I applied 4 days straight - 1 day break - 3 days straight.

I did not see any drastic improvement to my skin, neither did my skin became transparent and clear as claimed. Of cos I wasn't expecting overnight improvement as well. However, my skin does feel more hydrated and smooth after each use.

Overall, I am quite satisfied with the product.

Will I purchase this again? Yes I will! But the next time I use this product, I will not apply it daily but will apply it 2-3 times a week.

Ohh last thing before I end this post, I love this silicon mask "holder" that I got from Daiso too! With this, I do not have to lay on my bed when I am putting on the masks. I can do my work as per usual without having to worry that the mask will fall off! hahaha!

Even though it's a lil tad big for my face, it still does it jobs pretty well!

It's available in white and pink as of now and it costs just SGD2! So why not?

That's all folks!

Thanks for reading.

[Review] Daiso Pore Care Pack Natural Charcoal

Hello ! How have you been?

It's been a long while since I last did a review on beauty products.

Went Daiso yesterday with le bf for a spree! Most of you might know by now, Daiso sells all items at S$2 each! Most of them are made in Japan while the others are imported goods.

Most are just storage organizers -  I think there is nothing much to say about them except that they are so so so prettyyyyyy!

I was quite skeptical about $2 beauty products. I don't mind giving it a try but I wasn't putting up high expectation on the results. After browsing the shelves, I've picked the Daiso Charcoal Pore Care Pack and tried them on the same day I got them. Le bf tried it as well and I must say his results are much better than mine. Not sure if it's because he has got more black/white heads than me :x . On my strip, there wasn't really a lot of black/white heads but there were some. As I did not have any expectation that this would actually worked, I was surprise it actually did pull out some of our black/white heads!

Here's how the packaging looks like

Each pack contains 4 pore strips, which means it costs S$0.50/piece !
No doubt it's inexpensive but more importantly it's whether it does the job right?

The back

Was delighted when the instructions and ingredients list are in English as well! Daiso is also very popular in the states! That's a smart move there - Bilingual instructions (Y)

This pore pack is Made in Korea! A beauty paradise!

The strips are packed individually !

Oh yes, there's also instructions on the back of the individual packs. It's okay if you misplaced the box.

Front side of the strips

Adhesive side of the strips. This is the side that sticks to your skin.

The instructions given are not THAT hard to follow:

1) Wet your nose after washing. It is hard to paste on dried skin. Do not directly wet the pack as it may weaken effect
2) Remove transparent sheet by dried hand
3) Paste the sheet from the middle of pack and press after the shape of your nose.
4) Dry for 10-15 minutes
5) Remove it from the outer part to middle. If pack becomes overly dry, or if in case of severe irritation, re-moisten pack thoroughly and peel off slowly. 1 time per week is recommended

These are the exact instructions written at the back of the box. I guess it's relatively easy to understand for those whom had used similar pore packs before.

If you are new to using such pore packs and find it hard to understand, I have simplified the instructions below.

1) Wet your nose after washing, just enough to stick the strip to your nose
2) Peel off strip from transparent sheet with dry hands
3) Apply strip to your nose by placing the adhesive side to your skin
4) Leave it on for 10-15 minutes to dry
5) To remove, pull strip from both ends and peel off slowly. Wet strip if it's too hard to peel off. Use once a week

Hope this helps!

Back to the product. Even though it's a "nose pack", I tried them on both my nose and chin. WHY NOT RIGHT?

Below are photos of my chin, before and after using the pore strip. I figured that the photos are quite gross, so

DON'T SAY I NEVER WARN AH.

Before

During

I had to press my lips tight in order to "flatten" my chin area (that was tiring) and I was so afraid that I would accidentally taste the charcoal. :/

Uhmm

As you can see, there isn't a forest of black/white heads on the strip but some of the black/white heads on my chin do came off ! Although it's not 100% removal, it's good enough for the S$0.50 I paid for. My chin felt much smoother after the application. I was able to feel bumps on my chin before using. :<

DO NOTE THAT there's a herbal type of smell which can be quite awful at first. The smell became stronger after wetting the strip. I personally find the smell bearable but I believe if you are sensitive about smells, you may not like it at all.

When removing, there was a tinge of pain, bearable tho. It did not made my eyes teared. There was also some black residue left on my chin. However, I was able to wipe it off easily with a damp cotton pad. I feel that even though some of my white heads are not "stuck" onto the pore strip, the peeling process actually "loosen" them and after cleaning with the damp cotton pad, my chin appears much cleaner!

AND this is so much better than the liquid one I had used before. This pore pack is mess-free, easy to remove and dispose. The liquid one I used to have was really painful when peeling, took a long time to dry and the texture was super gluey and hard to wash off if it's not completely dried up.

Overall, I would give this product a 3/5.

Pros:
Inexpensive
Bearable smell and pain
It actually worked!

Cons:
Other brands may have better results
Leaves residue on skin

I hope you find this post helpful :)

Dancing Crab SG

Hi guys!

I am back in Singapore after 3 weeks in Europe.

Reached SCA (Singapore Changi Airport . HAHAHA) on 9th June, just in time to celebrate my +1 year old day with my family <3 .

Basically, when I reached home, I unpacked my luggage and hand carry, threw my clothes for washing, sort out souvenirs and packed them, miscellaneous, miscellaneous, miscellaneous and SLEEP.

The next day (which was my actual birthday), I spent my morning and early afternoon recovering from the jetlag (still). :( Thereafter, I had dinner with Mummy and Daddy Chua, Charlie and my nephew at #DancingCrab.

We had our aprons(?) on! Our first experience of putting on the same was at Burger & Lobster  in London. (I will blog about it soon I hope =x)

The bulb above our table was faulty and when it flickered into darkness, Charlie said that's romantic. LOL! Well, the staff changed the bulb and that's the end of his so-called romantic moments.

Our food took quite a while to come. Almost an hour for our Combo Bag. I am not sure why and didn't asked. Perhaps it's because we ordered a 1kg crab instead of the usual 700-800g crab in the combo.

While waiting, I snapped some photos of my bottomless tummy nephew! He can eat and eat and eat and eat. Sometimes I think he eats more than I do !

"Where's the food?"

"Gimme the food"

"OH YES, FOOD IS HERE!"

HAHAHA.
Look at his T-shirt. It totally describes him. =X

And here came our FOOD !

We ordered the lobster roll (S$29.50) and it's really good! Shell-less, tasty, yummy bread and the fries is awesome.

The lobster meat was served cold.
The bread was overall soft but crisp on the outside.
There was this mild spicy powder sprinkle on the fries and I totally love it!

Then came the Truffle Fries, a side dish. (this didn't have the mild spicy powder)
I prefer the one with the spicy powder.

& he ate half of that basket!

Last but not least, our seafood combo came !

We ordered Combo 2 and a 1kg crab.

Combo 2 consists of:
300g of prawns
250g of mussels
250g of clams
Potatoes, Corn and Sausages

My dad pointed out that the pincers are of different sizes.

<3 . I think they look cute in this photo!

After filling our stomach with food, I heard a birthday song being played. To my surprise, a staff brought a huge plate with a slice of cake on it and placed it in front of me. :O

I came to realise it was all Charlie's doings.

The decor was really nice.

and I blew the candle! ONE candle :D

Nephew was more excited than me!

Look at his enthusiasm. hahaha
( I suspect he wanted to eat the cake asap)
Which turned out to be true! He grabbed two forks and make sure that he had cake on both hands!

This is what we have ordered. Total bill turned out to be S$18x.xx.

Nephew is really curious about the crabs and lobsters.

Lastly, a photo for memories :)

Till next time ! x.
